Name: Becca Rehberger

Age: 24

Hometown: Appleton, WI

School attending: Martin Luther College, graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science in elementary education

Tell us about your background:

I’ve lived in Michigan, California, South Dakota, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin — right now, I’m living in my tenth house. I moved to the Fox Cities after finishing my degree and teaching for a year. I have always loved words, writing, and learning, and I hope to take those passions in a new direction.

Why did you want to be an intern at FCM?

I wanted to learn more about the publishing process and gain experience in this field. I’m looking forward to discovering more about this area and finding stories in it.

What’s your favorite thing about the Fox Cities?

I have three: closeness to family, Mile of Music, and the food.

The last book you read: 

The Four Loves by C.S. Lewis.

The last movie you saw: 

Young Frankenstein. Rest in peace, Gene Wilder.

Any hidden talents?

I’ve been crocheting since fifth grade.

What can’t you live without? 

Zebra F-301 pens. I almost always have two or three on me; I couldn’t even go backpacking (pictured) without bringing a pen and notebook along.

What’s the biggest risk you ever took? 

Changing careers. The process has been somewhat scary, but I’ve learned to enjoy exploring the possibilities. I also have a lot of support from people close to me, so that makes a wonderful difference.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Abilities and skills aren’t set in stone; they’re a starting point for growth.

Describe your perfect Saturday:

Spending the morning with a book or my laptop, poking around a thrift or antique shop in the afternoon, and catching up with family and friends in the evening.
