Think spring. Think Spring. THINK SPRING!

If we say it enough, will we finally see some signs of it? As the latest polar vortex grabs hold of us here in Northeast Wisconsin–and we wistfully remember our recent dalliance with two days of temperatures in the 40s–there are some signs that warmer temps and greener scenes are headed our way.

FCM – What’s Going On – Weekend Preview 3/1One of those signs blossoms in Oshkosh starting today, as the Paine Art Center & Gardens opens its Rooms of Blooms display.

Now marking its fifth year, the display features flower and green arrangements throughout the Paine Mansion. Floral displays in the galleries will complement the bold, colorful paintings of Wisconsin artists Ruth Grotenrath and Schomer Lichter. in other rooms, the decor influenced the designers.

More than 100 floral creations will be on display during Rooms of Blooms.

Wicked celebrates the final weekend of its latest run at the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center.
Tarzan takes center stage at UW-Fox Valley.
The Temptations—one of Motown’s legendary recording groups—will make a stop at the Meyer Theatre.
Now, if you are a hardy soul who loves to challenge the elements, Bubolz Nature Preserve is preparing for the first maple sap taps of the season by holding its annual Adopt-a-Bucket program. Get out to the center and decorate a bucket that will hang in the Sugarbush throughout the tapping season.

FCM – What’s Going On – Weekend Preview 3/1Just because winter won’t let us go is no reason you can’t still enjoy some farm fresh goodness. Winter farmers’ markets continue to operate each weekend in Green Bay, Oshkosh and Appleton.

This Saturday is sample day at the Downtown Appleton Farmers’ Market, held inside City Center. In Green Bay, the New Leaf Winter Farmers’ Market includes cooking demos, while the Oshkosh Saturday Farmers’ Market celebrates customer appreciation day.

Looking ahead into next week, the Mardi Gras season reaches it’s Zenith with Fat Tuesday celebrations. What’s your best trick to get a string of beads?
