What’s Going On? A Weekend Preview

It’s hard to believe it’s Thursday already. This has been a long week of deadlines here at FOX CITIES Magazine, and we’re eager to get to the weekend.

One of the great things about the Fox Cities is that there always seems to be something exciting to do, no matter what your tastes. Now, if you happen to be a fan of big outdoor events, then this weekend is for you.

If you are looking to get an early start on your weekend, Downtown Green Bay will tonight be hosting the third of its four Gallery Nites. It’s a chance to explore 11 galleries around the Olde Main Street District visit with the artists there.

The big events get underway Friday, which marks the start of race weekend here in the Fox Cities and the organizers of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon have created a multitude of events for runners, kids and race enthusiasts. The weekend kicks off at 4 p.m. Friday with registration for the kid Fun Runs and a health & wellness Expo. A 5K gets underway Saturday morning at 7 and the half and full marathons are Sunday.

Across town, soccer enthusiasts will be coming to Appleton for the annual Octoberfest Tournament. Youth teams from Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Michigan will begin games on Friday evening play through the weekend.

If sports are not your thing, there are plenty of other events for your to explore and experience this weekend. On, Friday, Appleton Downtown Inc. hosts Art on the Town starting at 6 p.m. Museums, galleries, studios and stores will open their doors for the public to experience a variet of artists and media.
