The UW-Madison Russian Folk Orchestra performs a program of Russian and other Slavic folk songs, dances and ballads, along with selections of classical Russian music and popular Western tunes. The ensemble of more than 40 musicians play authentic Russian instruments, including balalaikas and domras. Prior to the concert (2 p.m.), orchestra conductor and music director Victor Gorodinsky leads a presentation on Russian folk instruments. Both events are free and open to the public.
