The John Michael Kohler Arts Center explores the desire to get away from the pressures of our non-stop lifestyle through an original exhibition of contemporary works of art including photography, sculpture, paintings, and drawings.

This group exhibition takes visitors along various routes the artists have explored as means of eluding the stresses and anxieties of contemporary living. Going off the grid lures some. Some create portals to other realities or shift their attention to inventing fantastical worlds. Still others flee the burdensome present through mind-consuming, highly detailed processes.

Artists in ESCAPE ROUTES include: Emery Blagdon, Alexander Brodsky and Ilya Utkin, Cole Caswell, Laurent Chéhère, Justin Cooper, Russell Crotty, Hiroyuki Doi, Andrea Joyce Heimer, Chris Hipkiss, Patrick Jacobs, Robin Kang, Jed Lind, Theo Michael, Dan Miller, Ethan Murrow, Melvin Edward Nelson, Stas Orlovski, Alexis Rockman, and Hiraki Sawa.
