Gillian Holroyd is a modern day witch who casts a spell on her handsome neighbor, Shepherd Henderson partly to spite a rival and partly because she is attracted to him herself. The spell works and Shepherd falls head over heels in love with Gillian and wants to marry her. However, Gillian learns from her aunt, who is also a witch, that witches run the risk of losing their powers when they marry a mortal. Gillian confesses to Shepherd what she has done and he storms out. Gillian fear she has lost him forever, but ultimately finds out that their is no greater power than that of the human heart.
