The Down Syndrome Association of Wisconsin (DSAW) will host their Annual Down Syndrome Awareness Walk on October 7. The event is expected to draw many walkers and volunteers to raise awareness and acceptance of people with Down syndrome. DSAW’s Awareness Walks are the key fundraising events that have helped support thousands of families over the past twenty-one years. All funds raised at the Awareness Walk support DSAW-Fox Cities’ life-changing programs and services. Programs include Parent’s First Call, Medical Outreach, Fraternal Events, Transition Support, and more.
The Awareness Walk will take place at Riverside Park. The day begins with fun activities for all ages at 10:30am. These festivities include raffles, a resource tent, DJ, clowns, mini-train ride, face painting, giant slide, rock climbing wall, trampoline bungee jumping, bounce house, photo booth and magician. At 2:00 pm, the 1-mile non-competitive walk along Lake Winnebago will begin. Raffle winners will be announced and posted at 2:30pm.
Participants can register online for the Down Syndrome Awareness Walk until Thursday, September 28 at midnight, and onsite beginning at 10:30am on October 7. Registration includes a t-shirt, pre-walk activities and lunch. Donations, sponsorships and volunteers are all needed. To learn more and sign up, visit https://secure.qgiv.com/event/ dsawfc/.
