Intern Intro: Suzanne

Meet Suzanne, the newest intern at FCM. This French and linguistics double major is fresh off a semester abroad in Nantes, France. She will no doubt bring some of that effortless French style to our office. Welcome, Suzanne!

Why did you want to be an intern at FCM? With FCM, I’m hoping to gain more of the journalism experience that I’m lacking at the moment. I think journalism, and FCM in particular, is a great way to connect with the community, get more involved with activities and people in the area, and learn more about the inner workings of a monthly publication.

What’s your favorite thing about the Fox Cities? My favorite thing about the Fox Cities is the fact that the people here are really dedicated to maintaining and supporting the community that exists. I see this effort in all the farmers markets, the music festivals, the art exhibitions and more that go on successfully throughout the year.

Last book you read: I last read “The Girl on the Train” by Paula Hawkins. I really enjoyed it!

Last movie you watched: The last movie I watched was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Any hidden talents? I’ve been learning how to longboard for the last year and a half or so. I’m not bad at it!

What can’t you live without? As a student at Lawrence, I probably quite honestly couldn’t live without my student ID.

What’s the biggest risk you ever took? Probably the biggest risk I ever took was studying abroad in France for three months, but it was the most fun, challenging and rewarding time of my life, so definitely worth it!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? I really like to keep in mind that if a problem or worry or result isn’t going to matter in 10, or even five, years, then it is certainly not something to spend a lot of time worrying about or stressing over.

Describe your perfect Saturday: My perfect Saturday would include four things: a sunny day with 70 degree weather, a festival of any sort (music, food, art), maybe swimming, and friends. I am obviously ready for summer!

Stay tuned for a blog series coming from Suzanne this summer.
